Our Story
Founded in loving memory of Rusty
The Rusty Foundation was founded in loving memory of our soul dog, Rusty. Rusty was a special-needs, three-legged hound who was sitting on a euthanasia list when our paths crossed. When we met him, he was skin and bones, carrying the weight of a difficult past — but beneath it all was a loving, goofy spirit who deserved a chance.
Although Rusty was, unknown to us, terminally ill when we rescued him, the time we shared with him changed our lives forever. He showed us that every dog deserves to feel safe, cherished, and loved, regardless of their age, medical needs, or the challenges they have faced.
In Rusty's honor, The Rusty Foundation was created to help shelter dogs who are often overlooked — including senior dogs, special-needs dogs, and those at risk of euthanasia. Our mission is to provide hope, comfort, and support while helping these deserving dogs find their second chance and forever homes.
